How Keating Research polls
Every project is custom. We write the questionnaire with you, field it the way the population calls for, and deliver a report you can act on. Here is how we build each survey.
Sampling from the voter file
We draw registered-voter samples from the current voter file, stratified by geography, party, age, and vote history, so the people we reach are the people who decide.
A modeled likely electorate, built from turnout history
Completes are set by quota to match a modeled likely electorate for the specific election, built from turnout history. We build likely-voter and turnout models by district and county from the voter file, so your poll and your field program describe the same electorate.
Mixing modes to reach everyone
We field hybrid phone and online, text-to-web, and live-caller phone surveys, mixed to reach the people phones alone now miss.
Questionnaires written to be used
We write the questionnaire with you. Questionnaires and reports are written to be understood by the person who has to use them, and message tests show which arguments for and against move people, before the ads air.
What you get
A memo and presentation, a topline, and full crosstabs, with custom crosstabs and data delivery for your analytics team when you need them.
Public releases
Each public poll we release includes a methodology statement with the population, number of completes, field dates, and the margin of error at the 95% confidence level for the full sample; margins for subgroups are larger. Reporters and researchers are welcome to cite our public polls with attribution. See our public polls and our track record against certified results.
Talk to us about your research
Keating Research is based in Denver. You work directly with the people who design, field, and analyze your research. We travel throughout Colorado and the Mountain West for in-person work: client meetings, board and staff retreats, and presentations to city councils, commissions, and agencies.
